Seeking disbarment for 12 Bush-Cheney torture lawyers

Applying the rule of law to torturers, their enablers and those who created the policy are essential steps to facing up to the issue and putting torture behind America.

Today, on behalf of Voters for Peace and a coalition of organizations led by Velvet Revolution, I signed complaints against 12 Bush-Cheney torture lawyers – lawyers who used their license to practice law to facilitate torture. The complaints seek their disbarment. Applying the rule of law to torturers, their enablers and those who created the policy are essential steps to facing up to the issue and putting torture behind America.

You can read my comments at the press conference here.

I am writing to urge you to join us in taking action. You can do two things:

Take action now to write your elected representatives in Congress as well as the President and Attorney General to urge disbarment, conduct hearings to investigate torture and appoint a special prosecutor. In the end, it is going to be essential to remove torture from partisan politics and apply the rule of law. A special prosecutor will be able to follow the facts and apply the law. Click here NOW.

Join our campaign to disbar the torture lawyers. Lawyers who use their legal license to facilitate torture should no longer be licensed to practice law. Click here NOW.

I hope you will also support our efforts by making a donation today. We need to build this campaign for torture accountability and need resources to do so. Click here to donate now. You can receive a t-shirt or poster of the image below for a donation of $25 or $50. Click here to visit the campaign store.

Thank you for taking action.

Sincerely,

Kevin Zeese
Executive Director
